The Five Most Powerful Weapons of Self-Destruction
Confusion:
Lack of understanding or bewilderment is the most debilitating state a person could ever be in. Lack of clarity is also the biggest barrier to success. The truth of the matter is that not everyone who is confused wants to get clarity. There are some who love to say “I don’t know.” Not knowing seems to alleviate responsibility for taking any actions. You know the saying “Out of sight, out of mind.” One of the first steps I learned about getting clarity I learned from Dr. Roni Ellington, who says first we have to choose clarity.
Fear :
Fear, much like faith is strongly based in belief. What it is we believe about ourselves; what it is we believe about our circumstance or what it is we believe about our ability. Fear and faith cannot co-exists without one deteriorating the other. Nothing sabotages us more than lack of faith.
Resistance:
“Rule of Thumb: The more important a call or action is to our soul’s evolution the more resistance we will feel toward pursuing it.” -Steven Pressfield.
Resistance is wasted energy. The energy we spend fighting and resisting can be better spent building and moving forward. resistance either moves us backward or keeps us stagnant.
Inaction:
Passion is not enough! How many times have we attended a conference, heard a motivation speaker or even a sermon and got super excited? Only to go home excited for and active for a week or two until the inspiration dwindles and we are back inactive. Or we get wrapped up and passionate about a cause we advocate for never take any real action. I was once told that E-motion was Energy in motion. When energy is not in motion it rest in potential space. if we are not careful. This can be the place dreams go to die.
How many people do you know with lots of good ideas and theory and little to no action. When it comes to “Being More ” intelligence is not enough. What good are degrees and certificates with no movement? One of my challenges have been perfection paralysis. If you’re not familiar with this it is where you mistake thinking for action.
Poor Planning:
Sometime inaction is the culprit and sometime the opposite can be damaging. Running into action without planning has it’s major disadvantages.
