The pre-meetings around the video shoot for Self-MAFmatics which has the primary theme of MOTIVATION, ACTION & FOCUS included ideas and scenes from movies and tailored images pulled from various sources to portray the general theme. We also designated a location that I felt embodied the concepts and were prepared to shoot there. The day of my video shoot was pretty hot…. I mean really reeeeeeally hot. Before we got began I asked the videographer if we could stop by my home so that I could make some changes to the originally selected wardrobe.
When we got into my home he looked around at the pictures and images on my wall, the quotes and the books on my shelf. After taking it all in he replied. “We don’t need to make up images or pull them from other location. Look around your home. You are living what this poem is about. We should shoot the video here!” It had not crossed my mind at any point to shoot in my home. He saw my husband’s paintings and my art work. I have known the videographer for a few years and he responded at how he never knew I was a visual artist etc. We ended up shooting the video in a section of my home. His statement affirmed for me that I am living the words I speak and my environment embodies the message that I want my work to carry out into the world.
