Baltimore, I see you
Baltimore, I see you,
I’m reading your signs, and fists in the air. I see you in tears. I see you standing in solidarity.
Baltimore, I hear you,
You want answers, you want justice,
Baltimore, You matter,
Your sons matter, your husbands matter, you cousins, uncles, mothers, sisters, brothers and domestic partners matter.
Baltimore, I feel you,
You are asking for action, and as a citizen of this country and resident of Baltimore I am asking too.
All Black men are criminals and All Police are Killers…
Or so it would seem from opposing viewpoints, who are both filled with emotion. People already treat “The Wire” like it’s a documentary of Baltimore instead of a television show.
When people feel a great injustice has been done to them and no actions are done to reprimand those who caused the injustices feelings of hurt and hopelessness can lead to retaliation.
I appreciate the outrage and even anger that some feel toward social injustices. People who unify to correct inequity constantly transform this country.
In the case of White police offers killing unarmed Black males,
at the core of everything, even if it is not a race issue, or a gender issue, or a cop issue; It is an issue of what American laws, governmental policy, universal religions and even individual morality will say is a right and wrong issue.
Not all Black men are criminals
Not all police are killers
Here’s what I don’t want. I don’t want people coming from miles around to instigate riots, to take our hurt and use it to push their personal agendas, to get us so riled up that we begin to destroy our own city and attack each other. Then the provocateurs leave us picking up the pieces.
To be continued…
